Consultancy
BVIEER has provided consultancy service to the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, Forest Department, Maharashtra State for various education, ecological and GIS related projects. The key consultancy areas are:
Evaluation of education programs
BVIEER faculty have been invited to evaluate projects in various parts of the country such as Uttaranchal, Andhra Pradesh as well as national programs such as those run by the World Wide Fund for Nature-India.
Design of environment communication material
The Institute houses a Resource Centre for development of environment education material in the form of books, manuals, posters, audio-visuals, activity sheets, etc. Several other organizations in the country such as the World Wide Fund For nature-India, the CPR Environment Education Centre, Chennai, Wildlife Trust of India, Forest Department, etc. have requested the Institute to develop locale specific material for teachers, forest personnel, etc.
Design of Interpretation Centres
The Institute specializes in design and implementation of Nature Interpretation Centers which it has developed for the Forest Department of Maharashtra. The Institute has also undertaken consultancies for development of exhibits of Nature Interpretation Centers for the Forest Department. These have been set up in various Protected Areas in the state. It is presently developing Interpretation Centres for the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and the Sanjay National Park in Madhya Pradesh and the Lucknow Zoological Garden and the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh
The Institute has also developed low cost interpretation centers for the Forest Department at Thoseghar, Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary and Supe Wildlife Sanctuary in Maharashtra State and also for the Kannanpindari Zoo in the state of Chattisgarh.

Development of Zoo Management Plans
The Institute has also developed a special expertise for development of Zoo Management Plans. It was approached by the Pune Municipal Corporation for development of the zoo management plan for the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Garden, Pune and by the Forest Department, Borivili for development of zoo management plan for the Sanjay Gandhi Zoo.
Training in environment education and nature interpretation
The Institute conducts training programs not only for teachers but also for frontline staff of the Forest Department and managers form the Industry. The Institute has conducted two course for forest guide certification-one in Bandhavgarh National Park and one at the Satpura Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh.
